Vivienne Parish - Owner (or 'Buck Stops Here' person) of TriSportsPlus
Having spent many years in design and sales within the Lingerie Industry (see the page on bra fitting), travelling around the world (the glamourous bit) accompanied by long commutes to the office (the bad bit), I finally decided to bite the bullet and go out on my own. Enjoying Sprint Triathlon myself and seeing how popular it was among club mates but how little the sport was served by local shops, I realised a dream and TriSportsPlus was born.
I'm still mana
ging to fit in some training and the odd triathlon around the business. This year I finally got into open water (much better than the pool, don't know why I didn't do it ages ago) and I'm aiming for an Olympic distance next year, hats off to the Ironmen/women, but I won't be joining you anytime soon!
My aim is to help budding triathletes realise you can do it, to pass on the knowledge that it is one of the friendliest sports I have ever participated in and that anyone can take part. Triathlon really is a sport for all, with various distances and age categories, it means you can be a winner what ever your age. The other thing you should remember is, that triathlon is several sports, swimming (pool & open water), cycling and running, all of which bring their own skill sets, training needs and difficulties, but most people are good at at least one if not more.
You could participate in each sport (swimming, cycling and running) on its own with individual kit requirements, training needs and racs; but why not combine them to one event, triathlon!?! If that sounds a lot of expense, don't worry it needn't be. You don't need to start off with a fancy tri-bike, a mountain bike will do, even a 'shopper' and apart from a helmet (you can't enter a triathlon without one), your pretty much there for the bike section. Add a pair of running shoes (don't forget we offer free gait anaylsis) for the run; some swim goggles, a swim cap for the swim and finally a trisuit to wear throughout with a number belt and your all set.

My passion is cycling (and bikes; 'x + 1' being the right number to own), although someone has convinced me that I could do a triathlon, ha ha. I guess that's why I can be found in the swimming pool on Monday nights learning how to do front crawl again! As I was saying though, my passion is cycling, whether mountain biking or road cycling - time trials and sportives, can't wait for the Exmoor Beast later this year, as well as building my own bikes to the spec I require.
If you have any questions regarding bikes, accessories, cycling in general or events, please feel free to contact me
